Sneakers aren’t dead, they’re just changing

This week’s selection focuses on footwear I’ve been coming across online lately. There’s been a lot of talk about sneakers being “dead”, and while I don’t fully agree, it’s true that we’re seeing a shift. Sneakers are no longer the only option, and other types of footwear are starting to take up more space in everyday wardrobes.

Rather than chasing hype, this week’s edit is about balance. A mix of new releases, discounted pieces, and shoes that sit somewhere between classic and unexpected. Footwear that feels relevant right now, without trying too hard. Some are subtle, some are a bit more daring, but all of them feel wearable and considered.

Village PM – 1:30 PM

Minimal black and white Village PM sneakers with a clean silhouette and understated design

I’ve seen a lot of people talking about Village PM recently, and for good reason. The design is clean, simple, and very intentional. These are the kind of shoes that don’t scream for attention, but people who know, know.

If you’re into pieces that feel understated and slightly niche, this is a strong option. Minimal silhouette, easy to style, and perfect if you want something that feels different without being loud.

Available at Village PM

MM6 Maison Margiela – Biker Boots

Brown MM6 Maison Margiela biker boots with a bold silhouette and contemporary utilitarian aesthetic

These MM6 biker-style boots are definitely a bit more daring, but that’s part of the appeal. They’re not for everyone, but if you know how to build an outfit around them, they can really elevate a look.

What makes them even more interesting right now is the price. Being discounted, they offer a great opportunity to get into MM6 footwear without paying full retail. A strong statement piece that still feels wearable.

Oakley – Factory Team Suede Flesh

Oakley slip-on shoes with futuristic sole design in a neutral colorway for everyday wear

Something without laces, because why not. Easy to put on, easy to take off, and surprisingly versatile. This colorway works with almost any outfit, and the sole looks like it’s been taken straight from another planet.

Oakley continues to blur the line between performance and lifestyle, and this pair fits perfectly into that space. Comfortable, functional, and visually interesting without being too much.

Available at Oakley

G.H. Bass – Weejun 90 Larson Penny Loafers

Black G.H. Bass Weejun penny loafers with white stitching and rugged everyday sole

A slightly more formal option, but still perfect for everyday wear. These loafers are a great example of how classic footwear can easily fit into modern outfits.

The sturdy sole makes them more versatile than you might expect, and the white stitching adds a subtle contrast that works really well. Also discounted at the moment, which makes them an even better pick for both casual and smarter looks.

Available at Mr Porter

Onitsuka Tiger – Sclaw

Onitsuka Tiger Sclaw sneakers with slim profile and contrast white stitching

We’re seeing more and more of Onitsuka Tiger again. Since Kill Bill, the Mexico 66 has become iconic, but the brand has plenty of other silhouettes worth paying attention to.

The Sclaw model, especially with the white stitching, feels like a great alternative if you want something less obvious. With slimmer sneakers coming back into focus, this could be a very solid option for everyday wear.

Available at Onitsuka Tiger

Timberland – Heritage GORE-TEX Boot

Timberland winter shoes with durable construction designed for cold weather and daily use

We’re still very much in cold-weather season here in the northern hemisphere, so I had to include something for that. Timberland is an obvious choice, but this isn’t the most common model you see everywhere.

Reliable, warm, and functional, without feeling overdone. Sometimes sticking to what works is the best option.

Available at KITH

Merrell – Moab Speed 2 Vent 2K

Merrell Moab Speed trail shoes in a seasonal colorway suitable for hiking and city wear

We’re getting closer to hiking season, when the snow starts to disappear and lighter footwear becomes an option again. This Merrell pair feels perfect for that transition.

The colorway leans more towards spring and summer, and while they’re great for outdoor use, they also work surprisingly well as a city all-rounder. Functional, comfortable, and very on trend right now.

Available at Merrell

Saucony – ProGrid Omni 9

Saucony ProGrid Omni 9 sneakers with layered design and subtle technical details

I’ve mentioned before that sneakers might not be as dominant as they once were, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a place anymore. Especially when they bring something a bit different.

Saucony continues to gain recognition, and this colorway is a perfect example of why. Simple, wearable, but full of small details that you start to notice more the longer you look at them. A great everyday sneaker that doesn’t feel boring.

Available at Saucony

For everything new that comes into the wardrobe, something else should probably go. Keeping things intentional helps avoid clothes and shoes sitting unused, and it gives someone else the chance to enjoy them instead.

This week’s selection is about variety, practicality, and choosing footwear that feels right now, not because it’s trending, but because it works. Sneakers, boots, loafers or hybrids, there’s space for all of them if they’re chosen with purpose.
